Association Sportive de la Kozah Football Club (ASKO Kara FC) have been declared champions of the Togolese Championnat National following the abandonment of the 2019/2020 season.
Just like other football leagues all over the world, the Togolese premier division has been on suspension since the 16th of March 2020 over the growing concerns about the global pandemic coronavirus.
On Monday, 26 May 2020 the executive committee of the Togolese Football Federation in close consultations with the clubs decided to end the first-division and second-division leagues with immediate effect.
At the time the league was suspended, ASKO Kara was top of the league standings with 39 points from 20 matches with just six games left to end the season. ASKO Kara was leading second-placed Unisport with a 6-point gap.
This now means ASKO Kara has won the top division title for the fifth time in their history as they previously won the championship in 1988, 1989, 1996, and the 2006/2007 seasons.
It was also reported that there will be no demotions in the top-flight as next season will have 16 teams instead of 14 since two teams will be promoted from the second-tier to join the top-flight.
