David Moyes Considering Moves for Man Utd Duo Phil Jones & Jesse Lingard

West Ham boss David Moyes is said to be ‘considering’ making moves for Manchester United duo Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard, if he is able to keep the Hammers in the Premier League for next season.

Despite the fact Jones only signed a new four-year contract last year, he has made just eight appearances in all competitions in 2019/20. Additionally, he has started just the two Premier League games this season – and was taken off at half time in the first game after making a number of mistakes.

Lingard, meanwhile, has made 36 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils so far this season – but he hasn’t featured in the league for United since the resumption of play. In fact, he hasn’t even been named on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s extended bench for any of his side’s last three league games.

The Independent report that West Ham boss Moyes has ‘set his sights’ on Jones and Lingard, and he could look to make a move if he ensures the Hammers avoid the drop this season. Moyes is especially interested in Jones as he looks to strengthen at the back. Of course, the Scot was in charge at Man Utd between 2013 and 2014.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to raise funds in order to bring in his preferred targets in the upcoming transfer window, the likes of Jones and Lingard have been linked with moves away, and the Independent report that the pair are ‘expected’ to go.

Phil Jones has really struggled for game time this season
However, the report alludes to Jones’ recent contract extension, stating that this could prove to be an issue in terms of pushing him out the door, while Lingard remains keen to stay put at Old Trafford.

The latter’s contract is due to expire next summer, although United do have the option to extend this by a further year. In fact, a source confirmed to 90min back in May that the club will not force the England international out of the club if he doesn’t want to leave, while they are also considering triggering the one-year contract extension.
