Reports suggests that Super eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has extended his loan deal with Spanish La Liga side Getafe.
The former Warri Wolves star will remain at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Pérez outfit until the end of the 2019-2020 season in July and altough the initial agreement between Stoke City and Getafe would have ended at the end of the month, it has been prolonged due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Before the league was halted three months ago, Getafe were interested in signing the Super Eagles star permanently, but they are analyzing the financial impact of the coronavirus before making a fresh decision.
Seeking game time after falling out of favour with Potters boss Michael O’Neill, Etebo switched to Getafe in the January transfer window and has gone on to make nine appearances for the club in all competitions, including eight in La Liga.
Etebo, who has been capped 35 times by Nigeria, is contracted to parent club Stoke City until the summer of 2023.
Meanwhile, In Cyprus, Former Super eagles defender Taiye Taiwo has joined Doxa Katokopias on having agreed personal terms on a one year deal
The former Marseille man is presently in Italy and will fly to Cyprus next week for his official presentation.
Taiwo had been on the lookout for a new club since his departure from Finnish Veikkausliiga side Rovaniemen Palloseura at the end of the 2019 season.
The Alimosho born Holland 2005 Bronze ball winner previously donned the colours of AC Milan, Dynamo Kiev, Bursaspor, HJK Helsinki, Lausanne-Sport and Athletic Eskilstuna and represented the Super Eagles at three Africa Cup of Nations – 2006, 2008 and 2010 – and the World Cup in South Africa ten years ago.
The move was facilitated by his Cypriot agent Tekin Birinci.
