Former Super Eagles Midfielder, Justice Christopher has implored Gernot Rohr, the team’s Franco – German tactician to effectively utilise the players plying their trade in the Nigerian Professional Football league as he aims to write his name in gold in the nation’s footballing folklore.
Christopher, who starred prominently for the eagles at the 2002 Korea Japan World cup stressed that the former Bordeaux Manager can only get the best out of the players when he makes it clear how much believe he has in them just like Keshi gave him a chance to break into the team while still a home-based player.
He added that it’s a case of working on the psyche of these players to get the best out of them once they earn the trust of the coach to succeed.
“I’m an advocate of the local players because I am a product of it. That’s why I am still grateful to late Shuaibu Amodu and Steven Keshi of blessed memory.
He has every opportunity to give the young talents the opportunity to do it themselves of course we can try. He the contract he has every opportunity to succeed in the national team.
When I was invited to the national team Keshi told me one thing he said if you should player half of what you played for me in Ethiopia (U20 AFCON), I guarantee you, you will start this match, just go in there and do your best” the former Levski Sofia star concluded.
