Osimhen, Simon nominated for French Ligue 1 Best African Player Award

The award is named after the late Cameroon midfielder Marc Vivien Foe.

Osimhen was a standout performer for Lille in the 2019/2020 French Ligue 1 season scoring 13 goals and provided 4 assists in 27 league appearances for the Great Danes.

Simon, who was voted Nantes player of the season netted 5 times and provided 5 assists in 26 French Ligue 1 appearances for the Les Canaries.

The other African players who made the shortlist are Idrissa Gueye (PSG & Senegal), M’Baye Niang (Rennes & Senegal), Habib Diallo (Metz & Senegal) Edouard Mendy (Rennes & Senegal), Islam Slimani (Monaco & Algeria), Andy Derlot (Montpellier & Algeria), Hamari Traore (Rennes & Mail ), Tunis Abdelhamid (Remis & Morocco) and Denis Bouanga (Saint-Etienne & Gabon) are all nominated for the award.

Ivory Coast winger, Nicholas Pepe won the Marc Vivien Foe award in 2019 when he was still playing for Lille before moving over to North London giant, Arsenal last summer.

Osimhen and Simon will be hoping to beat other nominees for the award.
