Paul Pogba ‘Open’ to Signing New Manchester United Contract

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is willing to sit down with the club and thrash out a new contract at Old Trafford.

The Frenchman was eager to leave last summer, with Real Madrid heavily linked with offering Pogba an escape route from the then-catastrophic United, but an upturn in form on both an individual and team level has ramped up the positivity on the red side of Manchester.

Zinedine Zidane was desperate to bring Pogba to Real Madrid
He has shaken off his injury struggles and formed a hugely impressive midfield partnership with January signing Bruno Fernandes, and the pair have combined to lead United on a 16-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

With the future finally looking bright, the Daily Mail state that Pogba has had a change of heart and is now prepared to commit his future to the Red Devils.

Any new contract is expected to see Pogba’s earnings jump up to something closer to those of Alexis Sánchez and David de Gea, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested (via Metro) that wouldn’t be a problem as United want someone of his talent to stay at Old Trafford.

Pogba & Bruno Fernandes have formed an impressive partnership
“I can’t comment on discussions between player and the club but of course, we want to keep the best players around the club,” said Solskjaer.

“We want to build a squad for the future and Scott [McTominay] and Nemanja [Matić] are a similar position but at different stages in their careers. One at the start, one really experienced one.

“We also need players in the mid-range group. Hopefully we can do something. I know that since Paul’s come back he’s looking better and better. He’s enjoying his football and let’s see where it takes us.”

Fabrizio Romano adds that United have already opened talks with the infamous Mino Raiola to try and arrange a deal, but no official offer has been made just yet.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful a deal can be done
Should United manage to tie Pogba down to a new deal, it could have an impact on the team’s summer transfer dealings, particularly a move for Jack Grealish, as he was once tipped as Pogba’s successor if sold. United are still tracking the Aston Villa star and will play against him in the Premier League on Thursday night.
